Tourism Report: The Rise of Nakhon Si Thammarat

A new tourism and real estate report released in February 2025 is shining a spotlight on Nakhon Si Thammarat province – home of Banyan Tree Residences Sichon – as Thailand’s next big coastal destination. Compiled by hospitality consultancy C9 Hotelworks, the report highlights a surge in tourism to this once-overlooked region. From January to November 2024, Nakhon Si Thammarat welcomed 3.8 million visitors with an impressive average hotel occupancy of 69%, generating ฿13.2 billion in tourism revenue. A recent 1.46 billion baht upgrade to Nakhon Si Thammarat’s airport is accelerating connectivity, enabling more travellers to discover the area’s pristine beaches and cultural riches.

Industry experts compare the province’s trajectory to Phuket’s boom decades ago, underscoring the investment potential in this emerging market. “You can’t stay there if you can’t get there,” notes Bill Barnett of C9 Hotelworks, emphasising the critical role of improved air access in unlocking new destinations. For Urasaya Property and Banyan Tree Residences Sichon, these findings affirm that their vision is perfectly timed. The growing buzz around Sichon’s tourism and real estate prospects reinforces the appeal of owning a luxury villa in what is fast becoming a hot spot for property investment in Thailand.
